The milestone model LR01 has been a brand staple since it was launched in 2020. In 2023, after one and a half years of development and production, we are proud to introduce the LR01 Limited Edition in legendary Cone Mills White Oak Company deadstock denim fabric.
This very limited series was cut from a single roll of the rare denim, which yielded enough fabric to create just 42 pairs of jeans.
Each LR01 Limited Edition was assembled from beginning to finish by hand without compromise, all on historic machines, right on the floor of our 13 Rue Racine, Paris production shopfront. The utmost care was taken in calibrating each sewing operation on each machine, this jean boasts all the same design elements of our LR01 Made-in-Japan jean: high waist, true straight leg, button fly.
Like the original LR01, the Limited Edition Cone Mills White Oak Deadstock promises, with wear and washing, an incredible original fade, along with all the iconic known defects of the 1972-1974, 501 66 type construction that evoke the golden era of denim.
The LR01 Limited Edition is made from shrink-to-fit denim from the legendary Cone Mills White Oak Company. This fabric became incredibly rare when the historic fabric factory serving Levi’s (operating from 1915-1982) was closed and destroyed in 2016. It was woven on old shuttle looms which now no longer exist. After extensive research, we found a single roll of this legendary denim, one of the last that will ever be made, and decided to make a small series of jeans in our boutique.
Being loomstate ‘shrink-to-fit’ denim, this raw denim is not washed and pre-shrunk as part of the production process. Therefore, jeans in this fabric are designed to be washed by the wearer, directly on the body so that it shrinks to your unique fit. The potential shrinkage is about 10-12%. When you receive your pair, it will begin a few sizes larger than the marked size. Once washed, it will shrink to size.
Wear your jeans, buttons done, and get in a bath of hot water – we strongly recommend not exceeding 40 degrees celsius for safety reasons. Make sure that every part of the jeans is completely submerged.
You should be able to see the fabric shrinking around your body within just a few minutes. Remain submerged for about 30 minutes, then remove your jeans and air dry. Once dry, try on your jeans. If they have not sufficiently shrunk to your size, repeat the process.
If you do not have access to a bathtub, or do not feel comfortable shrinking the jeans on your body, you can soak your jeans on its own. As in Method 1, soak your jeans in hot water (we recommend 40 degrees celsius) for about 30 minutes, making sure that every part of the jeans are fully submerged in the water. Remove from water and air dry. Once dry, try on your jeans. If they have not sufficiently shrunk to your size, repeat the process.
Please note that shrinking with this method means that the fabric will tend to shrink uniformly rather than to your body shape.
